The Norwegian artist and curator Annette Kierulf is not only presenting an exhibition in Studio 227, but also a system of curating. As in the exhibition space “By the Way” in Bergen, of which she was co-founder, here it is also a question of the site-specificity of art works, of “connectivity” as the curator herself calls her aesthetic practice, which seeks local connections and thereby analyses local power structures. This exhibition, with works by Endre Aalrust, Øyvind Farstad, Thomas Kilpper, Janne Lervik, Beathe Rønning, Arve Rød/Stefan Schröder, will convert her curating concept – for which Kierulf has already received a curator’s fellowship from the Office of Contemporary Art Norway – into striking practice.
