Andreas Brunner’s artistic practice is dedicated to a constant revising of concepts that manifest across a spectrum of different media. These concepts and fields of interest often gravitate around speculative cultural development and its dynamics and systems of meaning creation. His work examines how these dynamics can recount existence, how they influence the perception of an experienced now and how they carry responsibility for the delimitation of culture and nature.
Through an intuitive and speculative approach, his work seeks to evoke poetic gestures that reflect on themes of longing, restlessness, and transience. In recent years, his works have most often manifested as sculptural installations, video arrangements, and various crafted and found objects. Repetition, senselessness, and humorous absurdity – bordering on melancholy are recurring motifs in his work.
