Jessica Halonen

Jessica Halonen combines sculpture, painting and drawing with the visual language of biotechnology to create rigorously crafted, idiosyncratic objects that explore the relationship between the body, nature and medical world. Her ongoing project, Rx Garden, investigates historical and contemporary practices of pharmaceutical production, including the ethically complex subject of genetically engineered plants and animals. Her integration of organic, synthetic and manufactured materials signifies and questions the manipulation of nature.
