As part of the exhibition A stage she’s going through, a reading of the script A Staircase. A Threshold. A Door. will take place. The text was developed by artist Melanie Jame Wolf together with the curators Kira Dell and Laura Seidel.
The sculptural Thresholds that Melanie Jame Wolf has created for the exhibition are located on the windows and in the foyer of Künstlerhaus Bethanien – a space that is architecturally characterized by the curved door and the central staircase. In the midst of these existing forms, the works deal with the location and take up its transitions, thresholds and movements. People leave. Traces stay. What stories can a staircase, a door and a threshold tell us about transitions, attributions and talking about art?
The exhibition is the first chapter of Becoming B, a project initiated under the new artistic direction of Antje Weitzel. It reflects on the history, role, and future of Künstlerhaus Bethanien as a space for artistic production and critical engagement—focusing on processes of becoming, transformation, and the collective reimagining of identity.
The reading will be held in English. No registration required.
