Tibor Horváth

Opening

Exhibition

Wed–Sun: 2–7pm

Significant for Tibor Horváths artistic practice are the radical taboo breakings that often let his works come across as provocative criticism towards institutions and society. Alongside graphic, photography, video and installation his works frequently include actions that the artist implements in various forms. Horváth, who was a participant of the international studio program with a fellowship by the National Cultural Fund of Hungary in 2013 now returned to the Künstlerhaus Bethanien with his work “The Prime Minister of Hungary” (2012). The elongated box placed in the exhibition space that is not particularly spectacular at a first glance is quite the politically charged container: inside of the box and touchable from the exterior Horváth placed a life-sized reproduction of the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The visitors are specifically requested to grasp through a slot trimmed with black foam material to touch the premier in any physical form.
