Künstlerhaus Bethanien is an internationally renowned institution with over 50 years of history and a unique identity. As one of the world’s oldest and most established residency programs, we offer artists from all corners of the globe the opportunity to live, work, and showcase their projects in Berlin. Our space is not just a creative environment; it is a place where art is made, dialogues are sparked, and ideas are connected across borders.

Situated in the heart of Kreuzberg – a district celebrated for its creative energy, diversity, and spirit of resistance – we see art as a platform for reflection, exchange, and social engagement. Each year, our International Studio Programme brings together around 40 artists from across the world, offering them the chance to present their work through exhibitions, open studios, and events to a wide-ranging audience. These intercultural exchanges ignite new perspectives and fuel innovative artistic practices.

Künstlerhaus Bethanien is a vibrant hub that amplifies international cultural exchange and reinforces Berlin’s role as a global epicenter of contemporary art. We provide not only space for artistic creation but also foster meaningful encounters that transcend the creative process. Künstlerhaus Bethanien embodies open processes, transnational networks, and art that actively seeks dialogue and drives change.
