I test the boundaries of the monumental, analysing the responsive, reactionary act versus the grounded and final object. The work asserts a sense of territory and power in a space. The work often appears flipped and active. Restraint is a concern where the body is held back. Relating to my performance works, my body is often replaced. Objects are born out of actions and movements. Works often appear tenuous and unfinished. Trust is a concern played out through negotiations between social relations and plasticised through form. This connection is both psychological and physical. I am interested in a sense of aliveness in the object. I am interested in binary comparisons of gesture against form, structure against motion.
