Natsuki Oshiro’s multidisciplinary work is characterized by a multi-layered transformation process. Literature, garden architecture and semiotics combine in her creative process over several stages to create colorful geometric spatial installations. <\/p>\n
In the first phase of her work, the artist extracts individual patterns from poems, landscapes or architecture. These become a kind of archive of personal impressions and interpretations from which she draws when constructing her sculptures. This results in architectural modules that are arranged in space and in turn form a coded landscape. These constellations are then transformed into paintings. The figures depicted change with each generation of this transformation. One work contains another, it evolves, splits and disintegrates back into its individual parts. This system is inspired by Japanese traditions in garden architecture and poetry.
