My practice evolves around the themes of social context and space, as well as the performative aspect of making and experiencing art. My work contributes to the tradition of minimalist performance and community-oriented art, and suggests new perspectives in merging artistic, social, and scientific research. I take the tradition of site-specific art as a point of departure, while addressing social, political, and economic conditions of a site. Over the years, three forms have dominated my practice: video, performance, and drawing.<\/p>\n
My concerns with human gestures and the relationship between human life and the architecture that directs it converge in Fascia (2006), a video installation and performance commissioned by the Storefront for Art and Architecture Gallery in New York. Fascia is an attempt to translate the unique mobile fa\u00e7ade of the gallery into facial expressions. Each expression was fixed on my face for one hour by metal contraptions.
