Melanie Bonajo’s photographs, videos, installations and performances question current belief systems by confronting their mechanical vision of the world with an artificial universe or substituted realities. To do so, the artist combines various mental patterns inspired by religion, anthropology, mythology, intuitive behaviour, sociological experiments and her own experiences. Bonajo works with fictive interventions, blending seemingly antagonistic elements into the everyday and ordinary.
