\u201cReminder Kostrzyn\u201d (Denk-Zeichen Kostrzyn)<\/p>\n

After his attempt to escape Prussia, Crown Prince Friedrich was detained in Kostrzyn Castle by his father Friedrich Wilhelm I from 1730-1732. On 6th<\/sup> November 1730 the King had the prince\u2019s friend Hans Hermann von Katte, who had tried to help him escape, beheaded before Friedrich\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n

The former fortress in which the castle was situated has not yet been adapted for tourists; it is in an interim position \u2013 outside the city of Kostrzyn, but directly on Poland\u2019s national border. Eleven international artists have implanted site-specific artworks into the ruined, former fortress of K\u00fcstrin (today Kostrzyn nad Odr\u0105). These are unusual sculpturally, with the character of reminders.<\/p>\n
