This abstract, teardrop-shaped ornament originated from Persian weavings and became popular in the West, with appearances in Irish quilting in the 18th century and later as a symbol of American as well as British Counterculture. Jodie Mack\u2019s anti-animation captured on 16mm film uses textile close-ups to examine the decorative and its relationship to accelerating cycles of fashion, while the associative soundtrack bridges the monotonous running noise of a film projector to the exploiting modes of production in textile factories.<br \/>\n<strong>Jodie Mack<\/strong>\u00a0*1983, lives and works in Hanover and Cambridge, USA | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jodiemack.com\">www.jodiemack.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The on-going screening series\u00a0<em>Phantom Horizons<\/em><br \/>\npresents digital as well as analogue works that question the paradigm of linear perspective, seeking a new kind of \u201cstatus perspective\u201d [Bedeutungsperspektive]. The latter was a development of ancient and medieval painting, in which the size of figures is determined by their hierarchical significance.
