He investigates the possibility of reporting on devastating truths\u00a0using quiet tones in face of the terrible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Erdo\u011fan Z\u00fcmr\u00fcto\u011flu<\/strong> responds to his colleague with counter arguments signalizing a willingness to take artistic risks. Here, it strikes us immediately that the artist brutally batters painting itself, employing forceful sweeps of the brush to declare it a problem zone.\u00a0Starting out from the Gezi Park protests in Turkey (2013), Z\u00fcmr\u00fcto\u011flu has produced a cycle of images focusing on characters embedded in an expressive maelstrom of colour, which may be interpreted both narratively and conceptionally. Torn here and there between trauma and liberation, the artist asserts his creative freedom as a counter force to the restrictions imposed on him by the chaos of existence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Timur Celik<\/strong> *1960 in G\u00fcm\u00fcshane, Turkey, lives and works in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Erdogan Z\u00fcmr\u00fctoglu<\/strong> *1970 in Konya, Turkey, lives and works in Istanbul and Berlin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","categories":[],"class_list":["post-23429","kb_exhibition","type-kb_exhibition","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":{"article_image":23426,"article_image_bu_de":"Timur Celik, o.T.
