{"id":24061,"date":"2018-09-25T13:26:09","date_gmt":"2018-09-25T13:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zen-morse.176-96-136-90.plesk.page\/?post_type=kb_exhibition&#038;p=24061"},"modified":"2018-10-02T14:52:29","modified_gmt":"2018-10-02T14:52:29","slug":"david-escalona","status":"publish","type":"kb_exhibition","link":"https:\/\/bethanien.de\/en\/exhibitions\/david-escalona\/","title":{"rendered":"David Escalona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In his site-specific project<\/span><em><span class=\"s2\"> COLD FEVER<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">, Escalona weaves a network of metaphors, and succeeds in creating images which are almost impossible to describe in language and words.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">New approaches to the discourse around illness, weakness and vulnerability are presented as an alternative to the norm of our world and its tendency towards self-optimization.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Escalona&#8217;s installative cosmos can and should be entered by the viewer, as it is not only the objects that are linked to each other; as viewers, we are also incorporated into the project. <\/span><em><span class=\"s2\">COLD FEVER<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\"> opposes a linear interpretation and maintains a woven net-like structure, within which individual points come into contact.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Thematically, the project is closely linked to Escalona&#8217;s own story and experience. He spent many years as a patient in hospitals and knows about the conditions of operating in this hectic, \u201cnormal\u201d world as a disabled person.
