The minimalist experimental film “Imaginary Landscapes” by Mykyta Lyskov sequences hundreds of small drawings in a flickering rhythm. From this seemingly steady horizontal movement emerge infinite landscapes of ink stains, colour smears, pencil marks and paper tear edges that drifts past the viewer. Due to the high speed and the unsteady movement of the image, the fine-grained textures take on three-dimensional qualities and evoke melancholic proto-landscapes that oscillate between real and imagined abstraction.<\/p>\n

Phantom Horizons<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>The on-going screening series Phantom Horizons<\/em> presents digital as well as analogue works that question the paradigm of linear perspective<\/em>, seeking a new kind of \u201cstatus perspective<\/em>\u201d [Bedeutungsperspektive<\/em>]. The latter was a development of ancient and medieval painting, in which the size of figures is determined by their hierarchical significance. Extending this approach using the methodology of deconstruction and the possibilities of contemporary film creation, the presented works open up multifaceted, unseen horizons.<\/p>\n
