This scintillating film collage deals with the effects of social media and aggressive advertising, which are interwoven with reality-distorting images and exaggerations and, thanks to new technologies, seem ever more individually adapted. In a sweetly sticky swirl of nostalgia, longings and wanderlust, perfectly adapted products are advertised: the unique journey, the perfect partner, the ideal life. Nicolas Gebbe creates a biting portrait of an affluent society in a frenzy of self-staging, but finds genuine images between 1990s computer games and 2000s glitch aesthetics.<\/p>\n

Phantom Horizons<\/strong><\/p>\n

The on-going screening series Phantom Horizons presents digital as well as analogue works that question the paradigm of linear perspective, seeking a new kind of \u201cstatus perspective\u201d [Bedeutungsperspektive]. The latter was a development of ancient and medieval painting, in which the size of figures is determined by their hierarchical significance. Extending this approach using the methodology of deconstruction and the possibilities of contemporary film creation, the presented works open up multifaceted, unseen horizons.<\/p>\n
