Since 1993, BE Magazine has been an integral part of the Künstlerhaus Bethanien’s program. It serves as a platform for discourse, documentation, and critical reflection. Over the decades, the magazine has undergone repeated transformations—conceptually, editorially, and in terms of design. While the early issues were characterized by thematic focuses and controversial debates, over time the work of the artists-in-residence increasingly took center stage. Since 2014, the magazine has been dedicated exclusively to our international guests and serves as a continuously growing archive of the institution.
This issue continues this approach with a sharper focus. BE Magazine returns to one of its central missions: documenting a year at Künstlerhaus Bethanien. With the extended exhibition periods introduced in 2025, artists have more space for experimentation, exploration, and resonance, which is also reflected in longer and more in-depth texts. Kadi Windhorst (studiokwi), whose practice specializes in intersectional and feminist design, and Bianca Seidel collaborated on the new visual identity for BE Magazine No. 32. The result consistently prioritizes accessibility and clarity.
