Before we head into our summer break, we invite you to celebrate the closing of our current exhibitions with us. From 7:00 pm onwards, join us for an evening program featuring a film screening, performance, DJ set, and cold drinks at the bar.
To mark the closing of Hovers, we present a selection of experimental films by Shunsaku Hayashi. In his work, he merges painting, animation, and experimental film into a multi-layered, poetic form of expression. His films are composed of hand-painted frames, carefully sequenced into animated compositions. Shunsaku Hayashi employs cinematic techniques such as editing, rhythm, and temporal manipulation not just to depict motion, but to make it physically perceptible.
Following the screening, Noé Duboutay will activate his exhibition It Started with a Pear one final time with a performance. The characters of the girl, the horse, and the knight step out of the narrative into real space. Drawing on the medieval verse romance Le Roman de Silence, the resulting body of work questions socially prescribed roles and gender images and brings fluid forms of identity into view.
The evening concludes with a DJ set by Jil Lahr’s project Internet Offline. Emerging from the context of Hamburg’s legendary Golden Pudel Club and co-founder of BEEK e.V., she sets move across genres, rhythms, and moods, creating open and unexpected sonic landscapes. Jil Lahr is currently an Artist-in-Residence at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, supported by Kultur | lx Arts Council Luxembourg.
