Kent Chan is an artist, curator, and filmmaker. His practice explores the connections between art, fiction, and cinema, treating them as overlapping and constantly evolving forms of storytelling and cultural production. A recurring focus in Kent Chan’s practice is the tropical imaginary, as well as the relationship between climate, heat, and artistic production. Through his works – including films, installations, texts, exhibitions, and collaborative projects – the artist explores pantropical connectivities both within and beyond the tropics.

His work also challenges the legacies of Modernity, exploring alternative perspectives on culture, knowledge, and social change. Combining artistic experimentation with research and dialogue, Chan’s works investigates how climatic conditions could shape the ways people create, experience, and (re)think about art. Opening up new ways of engaging with questions of history, ecology, culture, imagination, and futures.
